Originally from Beijing, Yangyang received her M.A. in the Humanities from the University of Chicago, and joined the Center for Civic Reflection in 2010. At CCR, Yangyang leads discussions, trains facilitators, develops resources, assists individuals and organizations to incorporate reflective discussion to their communities, and makes the case for reflective discussion as key to deepening civic engagement and talking across difference. She currently facilitates reflective discussions with national service programs in Chicago, and has experience working with a diverse audience, ranging from service and volunteerism to higher education, arts and cultural institutions, and public programming. Yangyang volunteers with the Chinese American Service League, the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, and the Chicago Cultural Alliance. Yangyang is looking forward to going back to school to pursue an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University in the fall of 2013.
